HIRING PROCESS
Initial Application We are currently accepting applications for Police Officer. For on-line applications please go to the APPLY ON-LINE section of the website or call 770-724-7445 to have one mailed to you. Feel free to contact us for any additional questions.
Physical Agility Test After successful completion of the written examination you will be required to pass a physical agility test This test consists of push-ups, sit-ups, sit and reach flexibility test, an obstacle course and a 440 yard run. Times and number of repetitions are based on the age and sex of the individual.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION

Initial Interview Once written test results are received, applicants who passed the test will be scheduled a date and time to report to the Background Unit (click for map) to fill out additional paperwork and have a one on one informal interview with a Background Detective. **Note: out of state applicants will complete this step on the day of the written/physical agility test even though test results aThis is similar to a polygraph test. The CVSA test is based on the information that you provided in your Background Investigation Booklet.re not received.
Background Investigation During this phase of the process, we will check your Criminal History, Credit History, Military Records (Personnel and Criminal) if applicable, Past Employment, Personal References, etc.
CVSA (Computer Voice Stress Analysis) This is similar to a polygraph test. The CVSA test is based on the information that you provided in your Background Investigation Booklet.
Profile The profile is simply a summary of facts about your life that you told us in addition to information discovered during our investigation. This profile, attached with your CVSA report is sent to our Assistant Chief's for their recommendations and finally our Chief of Police for his approval.
Oral Interview Once the Chief of Police has approved your profile, you will then be scheduled for the Oral Interview. This is a formal interview with a board of approximately 6 to 7 Police Officers ranging from Lieutenant to the rank of Captain.
Psychological Exam After successful completion of the Oral Interview, you will then be scheduled for a psychological written test as well as an interview with the psychologist.
Physical Exam Medical Doctor's examination, blood test, and urinalysis.
